In this immersive installation, Anders Ruhwald, Head of Ceramics at Detroit’s renowned Cranbrook Academy of Art, recreates rooms and spaces from an apartment in a building that he is renovating in Detroit. Featuring black-glazed ceramics, steel, charred wood, domestic fixtures, and found materials, Unit 1: 3583 Dubois examines cycles of change through fire as a symbolic medium that can both consume and transform.
