In this three-day workshop, students will learn about Islamic world papermaking and its role in the history of paper. We will watch videos, look at and discuss examples and applications of contemporary Islamic-style paper. We will cover fiber preparation, cooking and beating as well as the sheet forming technique. Students will have ample time to make their own stack of paper. Surface finishing techniques will be demonstrated and on the last day, these will be applied to the finished sheets.
