Updates from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture's August 31 Board of Trustees Meeting

Cuyahoga Arts & Culture held a special meeting of its Board of Trustees on Friday, August 31 at Noon at ideastream in downtown Cleveland.

Board Appointment & Reappointment: Charna E. Sherman has been reappointed and Gary Hanson has been appointed by County Executive Armond Budish to serve three-year terms ending March 31, 2021. Trustee Sherman, who serves as Board President, read the oath of office to Trustee Hanson at the meeting.

Executive Director Search: The Board of Trustees voted to enter a contract with Arts Consulting Group (ACG) of Boston to conduct a search to the fill the position of Executive Director.

Trustee Mark Avsec reported that he, Trustee Sherman and former Trustee Steven A. Minter worked as a search firm team to put out a Request for Proposal and vet the firms that responded. ACG stood out for its extensive experience in previous searches for arts leaders, its proven methodology for finding and screening outstanding executive director and CEO candidates, and its commitment to diversity and equity as the firm is LGBTQ-owned and has women, people of color and people from the LGBTQ community on staff. ACG will have representatives speak at the September 12, 2018 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees.

In addition, the Board made a call for community input.  If you are interested in providing input into the search process, please contact ACG search lead Bruce Thibodeau at bdthibodeau@ArtsConsulting.com or CAC Trustee Charna Sherman at board@cacgrants.org or 216-453-0808.
