Cuyahoga Arts & Culture Now Accepting Applications for Grants in 2013

CAC to hold grant workshops for new applicants of its Project Support grant program on June 5, 7, and 13

CLEVELAND (May 15, 2012) – Cuyahoga Arts & Culture (CAC) encourages nonprofit organizations offering arts and culture programming in Cuyahoga County to apply for its 2013 grant programs. New applicants are encouraged to attend one of three informational workshops on June 5, 7, or 13, to learn more about its Project Support grant program, and to visit www.cacgrants.org to learn more and apply.

“In 2012, CAC is investing $15 million in 154 organizations throughout Cuyahoga County, and we welcome organizations offering arts and culture programs to apply now for CAC grants in 2013,” said Executive Director Karen Gahl-Mills. “Our county is fortunate to have this source of public funding for arts and culture, which strengthens our community by making it a better place to live, work, and play.”

At each workshop focusing on CAC’s Project Support grant program, CAC staff will review its grant programs, eligibility requirements, and CAC’s application process. The same content will be reviewed at each workshop. Workshops are optional, but are a valuable learning opportunity for new applicants to the Project Support program. CAC welcomes applications for funding through the following grant programs in 2013:

  • CAC’s General Operating Support program is two-year, core funding for organizations with a primary mission of arts or culture.
  • CAC’s Project Support I program is for grants of up to $50,000 for 501c3 nonprofit organizations and grants of up to $35,000 for units of government for arts or cultural projects that occur in 2013.
  • CAC’s Project Support II program is for grants of up to $5,000 to 501c3 nonprofit organizations for arts or cultural projects that occur in 2013.

For each program, the first deadline is the Eligibility Check, which is due by June 28 at 4:30 p.m. ET.

In 2010, for every dollar CAC invested in arts and culture organizations, $19 was put back into the local economy; and CAC-funded organizations supported more than 8,700 jobs in Cuyahoga County's creative sector. Since 2007, CAC has invested more than $80 million dollars in 182 local arts and cultural organizations.
