As program manager, Johnnia oversees a portfolio of organizations that receive funding through CAC’s General Operating SupportProject Support, or Cultural Heritage grant programs. She works to build relationships with and provide technical assistance, guidance and support to grant recipients and applicants.

 

As an arts administrator, Johnnia has held positions with the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), Sphinx Organization, Baltimore Symphony, Peabody Conservatory, and Cincinnati Symphony. While at CIM, she led the Preparatory division’s flagship curriculum-based programming for advanced young musicians in grades 5-12 and served as Staff Advisor to the CIM Black Student Union.

Before arriving in Cleveland in 2019, Johnnia served as the inaugural Project Manager of the National Alliance for Audition Support, leading a four-year, $1.8M national partnership with the Sphinx Organization (Detroit), New World Symphony (Miami), and the League of American Orchestras (New York) to increase diversity in American orchestras by supporting musicians and conductors of color in professional orchestral auditions through mentorship, audition training, and an artist granting program.

Johnnia holds degrees in viola performance and arts administration from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and is a 2021-22 SphinxLEAD (Leader in Excellence, Arts & Diversity) Fellow.
