Updates from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture's February 20 Board of Trustees Meeting

Cuyahoga Arts & Culture’s Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, February 20, at Neighborhood Connections in Cleveland.  Here’s what you missed if you weren’t able to attend.
Grants Approved
  • Support for Artists: At the meeting, the Board of Trustees approved $90,000 in grants to 12 Cuyahoga County nonprofits ($7,500 per project) to support implementation of projects with artists who are part of CPCP's Learning Lab program. At least $4,500 of each grant will fund the artist’s fees and expenses. CPCP’s Learning Lab provided three full-day gatherings where artists deepened their knowledge around equitable, community-based work. CAC will promote the projects and invite residents to participate.

  • Resident-Led Projects: The Board approved a $60,000 grant to ioby (in our back yards) for a match fund that will support between 10 to 25 grassroots and/or resident-led arts & culture projects throughout Cuyahoga County. CAC will match 1:1 for every dollar raised, up to $5,000 per project until funds are depleted. This program will help to build the long-term fundraising capacity of grassroots arts leaders and artists, encouraging them to build a donor base to fund their work in the future.
Executive Director Search
CAC Trustee Gary Hanson updated the board on the executive director search process. He reported the search committee is narrowing down a list of highly qualified candidates from about 50 applicants and believed the committee would have a substantive update in eight or nine weeks. We look forward to welcoming a new leader to our team later this year.

Looking Ahead
At the April board meeting, CAC’s Board of Trustees will hold its annual meeting, at which it will elect officers and approve guidelines for the Project Support and General Operating Support grant programs. Draft recommendations for the grant programs are available in the public Board materials from the February 20 meeting.
