What to Expect at February’s Board of Trustees Meeting

Cuyahoga Arts & Culture’s Board of Trustees has its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at 4 p.m. in the Miller Classroom at Idea Center, 1375 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. We hope you will join us.

Please Note: Board meetings will be on Tuesdays in 2018, typically at downtown Cleveland’s Idea Center.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Support for Artists Update. CAC’s staff will present a detailed workplan with milestones for getting support to Cuyahoga County artists in 2018. CAC’s Board received the Support for Artists Planning Team recommendations in December 2017 and charged staff with developing a plan to get funding to Cuyahoga County artists in 2018.
  • Neighborhood Connections Grant. The board will be asked to approve a two-year contract ($75,000 per year) to continue CAC’s successful partnership with Neighborhood Connections, the grassroots grantmaking program of The Cleveland Foundation. The program provides grant funds to support resident-led arts and culture projects in Cleveland and East Cleveland in 2018 and 2019. Since 2013, CAC has invested about $75,000 each year to co-fund 286 resident-led arts and culture projects in Cleveland and East Cleveland. In 2017, CAC co-funded 38 unique projects, 20 of which received grants for the first time. The next deadline to apply for a Neighborhood Connections grant is February 9, 2018.
  • 2018 Board Work Plan. The board will approve its workplan for the year, which sets a timeline for the key items they will take action on throughout 2018. As proposed, the next round of Project Support guidelines will be approved in April, and General Operating Support guidelines will be approved in September. As in years’ past, the board intends to approve program allocations and grants at its November meeting and to approve its annual budget in December.

2018 is an exciting year for CAC. We welcome more than 250 organizations as grant recipients—the largest number Cuyahoga Arts & Culture has ever supported. Stay tuned to our social media throughout the year as we highlight some of our new cultural partners.  View the full list of grant recipients.
