When I think of springtime in Cleveland, I think of the emerging daffodils in the Cultural Gardens, the return of baseball to Progressive Field,
and…planning for CAC’s future!
That last one seems a little odd, right? But just as springtime is a time of rebirth, of new growth and high hopes for the future, we at CAC are looking
ahead to the next ten years of our work and renewing our efforts to act on behalf of all in our community.
To do that well, we need your help. We need you to help us understand how we can best support the cultural life of Cuyahoga County residents today
and in the future.
CAC is a different kind of grantmaker. As a public agency, our money comes from you, the residents of Cuyahoga County. And because our money is public
money – tax money – we have a responsibility to ensure that your voice is heard as we set priorities and figure out the best uses of our resources as we
move into the future.
We believe that arts and culture are important to our community’s health and vitality, and we believe that the future depends on both increasing access to
arts and culture and broadening our understanding of how arts and culture are currently serving the public. It’s time for our nearly 10-year old agency to
create a roadmap to that future, and that planning will help us improve our service to the public.
Our planning is going to start with a series of listening opportunities in all kinds of places throughout Cuyahoga County. The first one will be on May 19, specifically for those who work at the cultural organizations that we fund. But throughout the summer, watch for CAC’s team at all kinds of
community events and share your thoughts, dreams, and big ideas with us. Help us understand the needs of our community, so that we can do an ever better
job of serving those needs.
Want to get involved? Start here: www.cacgrants.org/future. Tell your family, friends and neighbors, and ask
them to participate. Together, we can ensure that CAC’s work reflects the best thinking that our community has to offer.
